A new DVD was launched on Saturday night the 1st of December 2007 in Mc Mahons Bar "Redboys" in Emyvale village by Donagh Development Association. The new DVD is an excellent collection of local music, verse, folklore and song performed by local artists against the scenic backdrop of the famous Monaghan Drumlins. The DVD was very well received because of its local flavour. The proceeds of the DVD will be used for the extension and improvement of the beautiful Emylough Walkway.
Sit back and enjoy a selection of musical melodies, songs and stories from the North Monaghan area. This enchanting performance is provided by Pat Mc Kenna and his many friends. It includes a host of local artists and renowned historians such as Seamus Mc Cluskey and Peter Keenan.
To discover 'Is Monaghan like what it used to be' let yourself be carried back to the nostalgic 'Village of my dreams' as remembered by an Irish emigrant, Bennie Mulligan.
The village of Mullan, an economic casualty of the late 40s and early 50s was lost in the mists of time, even the roads to it were cut off from the outside world. Now it is being opened up again and lovingly restored by Mickey "Briney" Treanor.
All these people have come together to realise 'Mc Kenna's dream' among the 'Little hills of Monaghan.' Leave the 'Old Dungannon Road' and take the 'Board of Works' road to 'Beautiful Glaslough' from 'Mc Mahons Bar' in 'Scairbh na Gcaorach' (Emyvale). On your journey you will dream about the 'Threshing Mill' and meet 'Curleys motor load' driven by Jimmy "Kvarney" Treanor to the strains of 'Mc Kenna's reel,' 'Inion Mhuineachain' and 'The Flight of the Earls.' Hear Roisin sing along once more with 'A song for Ireland' as you return again through 'Coillte deas a Truicha' (The lovely woods of Truagh). As you listen to the haunting tones of the young uileann piper Tiarnan Dinkin, Peter will recite 'The Mountain of Sliabh Beagh.'

The DVD was produced with the assistance of Monaghan County Enterprise Board. The Emylough Walk is no longer a dream. By purchasing this DVD and enjoying its musical and scenic treasures you will greatly assist its completion. This is a collectors item, a time capsule of local history, folklore, verse, songs, music and scenes of days long gone by.
Walking is one of the least expensive and most beneficial ways of acheiving a healthy lifestyle. Even with the benefit of a good public footpath, we are still in considerable danger from traffic and fumes.
We could not bring any pets or children along these in any degree of safety or relaxation; we could only proceed in a continuous state of anxiety. So what is the alternative? Fortunately there are increasing voluntary and public calls to put in place safe off-road walkways such as Emylough Walkway.
The Emylough Walkway provides a safe off-road walkway around a local beauty spot accessible free of charge to people of all abilities.
